Skill Seekers: build a skill from documentation, a repo or a PDF
An agent knows a library well only when it has a tidy reference, and preparing one by hand takes days. Skill Seekers scrapes a documentation site, a repository, a PDF, a video or any of its 18 source types and packages the result as a SKILL.md with reference files or as RAG chunks. The skill-builder skill drives this through an MCP server with 40 tools.
Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode
What it does
Detects the source type for you: a docs URL, an owner/repo on GitHub, a PDF, a YouTube or Vimeo link, or a local code folder.
Handles 18 source types, including Word, EPUB, Jupyter, OpenAPI, PowerPoint, RSS, man pages, Confluence, Notion and Slack exports.
Packages output for 22 targets: Claude, Gemini, OpenAI, OpenCode, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Chroma, FAISS, Qdrant, Pinecone and more.
Enhances the draft through the Anthropic, Gemini or OpenAI API, or locally through Claude Code, Codex, Copilot or OpenCode with no API cost.
Scores skill quality against a threshold and can add an SQLite FTS5 search index so the agent finds the right section before reading.
When to use it
The agent keeps mixing up the API of a niche framework and you want to hand it a reference built from the official docs.
You want to turn an internal Confluence or Notion wiki into a skill for your team.
You are building a RAG system and need documentation chunked for LangChain or a vector database.
Ask your agent
Build a skill from https://docs.djangoproject.com/ and package it for Claude
Create a skill from the facebook/react repo and export it to Chroma
Estimate how many pages the FastAPI docs have before you start scraping
Questions
How do I install Skill Seekers?
Run pip install skill-seekers[mcp] to get the program and the MCP server, then add the skill with npx skills add yusufkaraaslan/Skill_Seekers@skill-builder. The skill-seekers-setup wizard tells you which extras you need.
Does Skill Seekers work in Cursor and Codex?
The MCP server is meant for Claude Code, Cursor and similar clients, and Codex, Copilot or OpenCode can be picked as the local enhancement agent. Context files can also be exported for Cursor, Windsurf and Cline.
Why is the skill called skill-builder?
In the Skill Seekers repo the skill sits in the skills/skill-seekers folder, but the frontmatter of its SKILL.md names it skill-builder, so the install command uses that name.
