Understand Anything: see how an unfamiliar codebase fits together
Joining a project with hundreds of thousands of lines leaves you guessing where to start. Understand Anything runs a multi-agent pipeline that describes every file, function, class and dependency, saves the graph to .ua/knowledge-graph.json and opens it in an interactive dashboard with search, architecture layers and plain-English explanations.
Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, OpenClaw, Cline, Kiro, Trae, Antigravity, Hermes, KIMI CLI, Pi Agent, Vibe CLI, Nanobot
What it does
/understand builds the project graph, and later runs re-analyse only changed files; you can also scope it to one folder of a monorepo.
/understand-dashboard opens a web view with nodes coloured by API, Service, Data, UI and Utility layers, plus fuzzy and semantic search.
/understand-chat answers questions about the code, /understand-explain digs into a file or function, /understand-onboard writes a newcomer guide.
/understand-diff shows which parts of the system your current changes touch, and /understand-domain maps business flows.
Separate skills cover Karpathy-style LLM wikis and Figma files via the REST API; output can be localised with --language.
When to use it
You have just joined a team and need to grasp the architecture of a large repo in a day.
Before committing, you want to see which modules your change ripples into and where the risks are.
You are preparing onboarding and want the guide and code tour generated from the graph.
Ask your agent
/understand src/frontend and build a graph for just that part of the monorepo
/understand-chat How does the payment flow work and which services are involved?
Explain what src/auth/login.ts does and which modules depend on it
Questions
How do I install Understand Anything in Claude Code?
Add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add Egonex-AI/Understand-Anything, then run /plugin install understand-anything. After that, run /understand in the project root.
Does Understand Anything work in Codex and Cursor?
Yes. Cursor and VS Code with GitHub Copilot discover the plugin once the repo is cloned, Codex is set up through the install.sh script, and in Codex you invoke it as $understand.
Can I share the graph with my team?
Yes, the graph is plain JSON: commit the .ua/ folder except intermediate/ and diff-overlay.json, and teammates skip the analysis step.
