Scientific Agent Skills: turn a coding agent into a lab assistant
A coding agent writes Python easily, yet it often slips on scientific libraries, file formats and field conventions. K-Dense packs 177 focused instructions for packages such as RDKit and Scanpy, for public databases and for full research workflows, each with the validation checks the method expects.
Database lookup that documents 80 sources with endpoints and pagination, from PubChem and UniProt to ClinicalTrials.gov and FRED.
More than 70 version-aware package skills: RDKit, Scanpy, scikit-learn, Biopython, Qiskit, pymatgen, OpenMM and others.
Lab platform integrations for Benchling, DNAnexus, LatchBio, Protocols.io, Opentrons and a few more services.
Writing and presentation helpers: literature review, citation management, PPTX posters, slides, schematics and Mermaid diagrams.
Research workflows: experimental design, evidence-bounded hypotheses, grant writing and PK/PD modelling.
When to use it
You need to process single-cell or bulk RNA-seq data without relearning the Scanpy API from scratch.
A paper needs compound facts from PubChem and ChEMBL, with the source recorded for every value.
You are drafting a protocol or a reply to reviewers and want the agent to respect scientific conventions.
Ask your agent
Compute Lipinski properties for these SMILES with RDKit and save the table as CSV
Look up TP53 in UniProt and PDB and summarise the known structures
Help me design a randomised block experiment comparing three culture conditions
Questions
How do I install Scientific Agent Skills?
Run npx skills add K-Dense-AI/scientific-agent-skills and pick the skills you need. The repo is also an Agent Plugins package with plugin.json, so compatible clients can load it as a single plugin.
Does it work in Codex and Cursor?
Yes. The authors list Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and Google Antigravity, plus any host that supports the open Agent Skills standard.
Is this the same as Claude Scientific Skills?
Yes, it is the renamed project. The skills are unchanged, but they now target any agent that follows the Agent Skills standard rather than Claude alone.
